Getting started.
Short guides for owners, in the order you'll need them. Still stuck? Email hello@myobos.com and the people who build Myobos will reply.
Signing in
You sign in on your own site, not on myobos.com. Go to yourname.myobos.com/admin, or your own domain followed by /admin. Enter the email address you signed up with.
Microsoft sends a one-time code to that address. Type it in and you're in. There's no password to remember, and nobody can sign in without access to your email.
Lost your web address? Use Sign in at the top of myobos.com and type your business's web address. We'll take you to its admin.
Team members sign in the same way, on your site, with their own email address. What they see depends on their groups (see Your team's portal).
Code not arriving? Check your junk or spam folder, and make sure you used the email address you signed up with. If it still doesn't come, email hello@myobos.com.
Signing in on your phone works the same way, so you can check the diary between appointments.
Setting up and going live
After you sign up, the guided set-up asks about your business. If you have a website already, give its address. We bring across its wording, services, contact details and photos for you to check. Then your site is built behind a holding page.
In the admin, Get started lists what's left before you take bookings. Each step opens the screen where it's done:
- Your business details.
- Colours and logo.
- Opening hours and booking rules.
- Your team.
- What people can book.
- Payments.
- Email.
- Your privacy policy and terms.
When you're ready, press Go live on the dashboard. It checks the essentials are done, asks you to choose your plan, and opens the site to the public. Your plan starts at that point.
Until then, your site stays behind the holding page and nothing is charged. If the trial ends before you go live, nothing is deleted.
Team and hours
Open Staff & hours. Add each person who takes bookings, with:
- their working week and breaks
- the services they do
- whether they take bookings online.
Holidays and time off can be added for one person or the whole business. Customers only see times when someone who does that service is in.
To control what each person can see and do, put them in groups under Team → Groups. A group decides what appears in that person's portal, such as their bookings, takings or timesheets.
Partners and managers who need the admin itself can be added as admin users with a role. Four admin users are included in every plan.
Tip: add everyone's hours before you switch on online booking, so customers only ever see real free times. If someone works different hours each week, set their usual week and add time off for the exceptions.
Services and booking rules
Open Services. Your trade's starting services are already there, hidden, at £0. For each one:
- Give it a price and a length.
- Assign who does it.
- Switch on online booking.
Under Booking rules, set your opening hours, minimum notice, how far ahead people can book, deposits and the free-cancellation cut-off. Customers can change or cancel their own bookings before the cut-off.
Selling packs or running classes? Switch them on under Business type & wording → Features if your trade doesn't have them already. Packs count down each time a client books. Classes stop taking bookings when the places are full.
Tip: add a buffer after services that need clean-up time, so the next booking doesn't start the moment the last one ends. Deposits are optional, and the money goes into your own Stripe account. After any change, open your booking page on your phone to see what customers see.
Connecting Stripe
Open Payments and start Stripe's onboarding. Stripe asks for your business and bank details on its own pages. When it's finished, deposits, checkout, invoices and refunds run on your own Stripe account. Your Stripe dashboard is available inside the admin.
Under Ways customers can pay, you can also offer:
- bank transfer, with your details shown to the customer
- cash or card in person
- paying on account.
If your plan takes card payments through Myobos, 0.5% comes off each card payment. Stripe's own fees are separate.
Not ready for card payments yet? Bank transfer, cash and paying on account work without Stripe, and you can connect it later.
Refunds go back through Stripe from the admin. Payouts reach the bank account you gave Stripe, on Stripe's own schedule.
Adding your own domain
Open Domains & DNS and add the domain. You choose how:
- Move your name servers to Myobos. We copy your current records for you to check (keep the ones for your email). Then you change the name servers at your registrar. After that, you manage DNS records in the admin.
- Keep your current host. Point www at sites.myobos.app with a CNAME record. Your other records stay where they are.
When the domain is live, it becomes your site's main address. Your myobos.com address keeps working.
Don't have a domain yet? Buy one during sign-up or in Domains & DNS, and choose how many years to register it for. A domain you buy or move to us also gives you a business mailbox (see Email).
Name server changes can take time to settle, so start early if you want to launch on a set date.
Not sure which to choose? Point www at us if someone else looks after your email. Move your name servers if you'd like everything in one place, including a business mailbox.
Add-ons
Two add-ons are £10 a month each and free during your trial. Add or remove them under Money → Payments → Your plan.
Xero & QuickBooks. Connect your accounts under Money → Xero & QuickBooks. Choose where each kind of takings goes, and each day's takings are sent across.
SEO & AI search. Under Website → SEO & AI search, choose suggested or automatic fixes, and how often it checks your site.
Removing an add-on stops it from the next billing date.
Both are optional and separate: take one, both or neither. They're free while you trial, so it costs nothing to try them before you go live.
Xero & QuickBooks suits anyone whose accountant re-types takings. SEO & AI search suits anyone who wants more people to find their site. Each has its own page under Features.
Your team's portal
Team members sign in on your site with their own email. What they see comes from their groups under Team → Groups. That can include:
- their bookings or journeys
- takings and statements
- their own details
- timesheets
- photos of the people they see
- site safety documents to read and sign.
Pay statements are worked out from each person's pay arrangement: commission, chair rent or employed. Chair renters get self-billed invoices.
To change what someone sees, change their group rather than the person.
Set up groups before you invite people, so each person sees the right things from their first sign-in. Taxi drivers see their journeys here. Builders' teams read and sign RAMS here, and each sign-off is recorded against that version.
Open Emails & webhooks to set the sender name, the reply-to address and which emails your site sends. Booking and order emails go out automatically once this is set.
Without your own domain, booking emails send from yourname@at.myobos.com.
With your own domain, set it up under Send from your own domain and booking emails come from it (like bookings@yourbusiness.co.uk). Replies go to your usual inbox. Domains & DNS shows the records your Google or Outlook mailbox needs.
Newsletters go only to customers who opted in. Build an audience, write a campaign, or send a journal post as a newsletter. The AI button can draft the intro.
Tip: set a reply-to address you check every day, so customers replying to a confirmation reach you. Confirmations, reminders and invoices all go out automatically, so most customers never need to ring.
Client forms and notes
Switch on forms under Business type & wording → Features if your trade doesn't have them on already. Then:
- Open Forms & records.
- Start from a template.
- Check it against your professional body's guidance.
- Link it to the services that need it.
The form goes out with the booking confirmation, so the answers are in before the client arrives.
Treatment notes are encrypted, and readable only by people you allow. Every view is logged, so you can see who opened what and when.
Clinics and beauty salons start with forms switched on, and personal trainers start with client forms and notes. If a client asks who has seen their records, the access log gives you the answer.
Your privacy policy and terms
Your website needs its own privacy policy and terms before you take bookings or payments, because you're responsible for your clients' information. Open Pages: both pages are built in for you to complete.
Fill in your business name, contact details and anything particular to how you work, such as your cancellation rules. If you hold health information, take advice on what your privacy policy must say.
These pages belong to your business. Myobos provides them, but the wording has to match how you handle information. Update them if you change how you work, such as starting to take photos or health forms.
Myobos's own terms and privacy notice, for your account with us, are at myobos.com/terms and myobos.com/privacy.
Importing customers
Bring your customer list from your old system as a file. Each customer becomes one record, matched on their email address, so the same person won't appear twice.
- Export your customers from your old system.
- Open Customers → Import in the admin.
- Upload the file and check the columns match.
- Import, then spot-check a few records.
Only import people you have a right to contact. Importing a customer doesn't sign them up to newsletters.
Switching from another system
Moving from another website or booking system? Most of it comes across in the guided set-up.
Comes across on its own: your website's wording, services, contact details and photos. We read your home page and main pages, and you check everything before it goes live.
Bring with you: your customer list (see Importing customers), your team and their hours, and your prices if your old site doesn't show them.
Keep your domain: point it at Myobos, or move your name servers to us (see Adding your own domain). Your old site stays up until you switch.
The full guide is on the Switching page.
Most of the work is checking, not typing: the guided set-up does the copying.
Cancelling
Cancelling during the trial costs nothing. Going live or starting a paid service, such as buying a domain, commits you to the plan.
After that, plans are billed monthly, quarterly or yearly, in advance. Industry packs, such as Taxi, have a 12-month minimum. A domain bought through Myobos sets a minimum of its registration length. Unused credit isn't refunded.
To cancel, go to Money → Payments → Your plan.
Your data is your responsibility. After cancelling you have 30 days to export it. We then hold it for 60 more days, in case you come back, before it's removed.
Domains bought through Myobos can move away for a fee and with our approval.
Before you cancel, export what you need: customer records, takings reports and anything your accountant will ask for.
Getting support
Support is by email: hello@myobos.com. The people who build Myobos read and answer it.
To get the quickest answer, include:
- your web address (yourname.myobos.com or your own domain)
- what you were trying to do
- what happened instead, with a screenshot if you can.
If you're a client of a business that uses Myobos, contact that business. They look after your bookings and your information.
Questions before you sign up are welcome too, whether about your trade, switching or pricing. Feature ideas go to the same address, and trade requests can use the Request a trade form.
